I have heard it said that God is withholding rain from his people because they have turned from their maker. Maybe so. But what are we doing to entice those around us into the fold? Are we showing them the fruits of the Spirit? Is your life exhibiting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? Are we allowing the Spirit to use us to bring others to him by our love, or are we demonstrating instead the wrath of God because of the wrong that we consider is being done by our brothers and sisters who don't know Christ--at least not yet. God will not allow evil to stand, that's true, but where are those around us seeing anything else?
Once again, I want to make it clear that I'm not saying anything at all about what is perceived as the wicked ways of those who are not like "we" are. That's not my message. I'm sure others have messages for these people, but my message is for the believer. It's a message that I have heard over and over again, and it's come in loud and clear. The message? Love one another. Love your friends, love your enemies, love and pray for those who persecute you. Love those that would love to see you dead. Love those who have caused you pain. Love those that have made you weak, since Love then came and made you strong. So ask yourself, my brothers and sisters--are you following God's command?
Someone suggested that I call for a date and time to pray that the Holy Spirit rain down. I've actually prayed about that, and I just don't feel God calling me to define the moment. You know the moment. What I am asking you to do is pray. Pray and ask if you agree with this. If you do, then please PLEASE pray. And please share this so that others will have the opportunity to do likewise.
I truly believe that God is calling us to renewal as His people. I believe that he wants a deluge. He wants to immerse us in His Holy Spirit, and He wants us to enjoy the ride. So please pray. Come Holy Spirit and fill us with your power. Flow, Holy Spirit, and overwhelm us with your love.
